Javier Reinoso

My name is Javier Reinoso, and together with my elderly parents Juan and Elia I run this humble cat sanctuary, where our feline rescues become part of our family. But to keep doing this we need urgent and constant help from kind people all over the world.

You must have heard about the terrible humanitarian crisis that is afflicting Venezuela, and how there is no food and medicine for the poor people. It's really heartbreaking, and the reports you have heard are not only true, but sometimes an understatement of how desperate and cruel things really are. Now if that is for the people imagine how it is for the animals in a situation like that. People can no longer feed their pets and most are leaving theirs abandoned in the streets to die.

And those are people that have only one or two pets to care about! Now imagine if, like my dad, you had a makeshift shelter in your house with more than  60 hungry cats you have picked up from the streets through the years waiting to be fed and taken care of, and 3 kilos of chicken feet costs almost the entirety of your monthly income. Because in Venezuela there IS some food to be found, but at ridiculously high prices very few can pay, and certainly not an elderly 70 years old senior with a pension of roughly $1 a month, that even aided with various odd jobs he does despite his age, can't cover even a day worth of the cheapest chipped rice and chicken feet to cook for the cats. Until a few years earlier he managed to maintain the shelter on his own, without any kind of help or contribution, but as things have degraded and distorted in this country, now it is literally impossible.

At the current prices of food in Venezuela, my dad would need at least $500 a month just to afford the basics, and he doesn't make even 1% of that, is a really desperate situation. But even though he is almost starving himself, he choses to give the very little income he has to feed the cats. He is such a kind hearted and selfless person with such a deep love for the animals, he wouldn't have it any other way. And my mom, with her frail health but will of steel and heart of gold dedicates every moment of her life to look for the cats and the sanctuary.

This campaign is to raise funds for food expenses for the shelter, and every $500 raised will give us another month of survival. Only with your generous help we will be able to continue taking care of our dear animals...  Is truly a life or death situation, and any donation you make will give our cats a chance to survive a little bit longer in such a ravaged and ruthless country Venezuela has become for the people and the pets alike.
